backing tracks for i-pod

Hi newbie here, my dad has a Yamaha key board and has been told that if he gets an i-pod he can have lots more backing tracks to add to his key board. Can anyone shed any light on this for us please.

i think the idea is simply to downlod some mp3 and play them on the ipod that will be connected to the IN of your keyboard, so you jamm with that beat in background.
