Live Setup Using PC Laptop

I'll be traveling overseas at the end of this month and won't be able to bring my equipment with me because of shipping costs and similar equipment will be provided at the gig. Just in case something happens where I can't duplicate my sounds I was wondering if anyone can help me put together a simple live setup using my PC laptop as a backup. I'm new to the computer thing because my existing setup is all traditional 70's and 80's style classic rock with vintage keyboard synths and amps. I'm not sure what sounds/synth software to get and what accessories, connection cables, equipment, etc. are needed. I know I need a midi keyboard controller but that can be provided over there. Any suggestions?
