I have three 1000 series modules in my rig. The PX has given me no problems.
The GX sometimes comes up with a bunch of black blocks on the display, and
then I have to restart it. It usually comes up fine after that. The AX+ used
to do that, and then it now comes up with a blank screen and provides me no
sound. I put it in the shop once before, and it fixed it for a short while,
    but it's doing it again.

Anyone have any ideas as to what's wrong? I usethat module all the time for
strings, trombones, Tenor sax, and trumpet. It's really cramping my style to
    have it down.

I have a PX and an HX.... both over 10 years old......they both stopped
    working.......
Im figuring there is an internal battery that needs replacing.....maybe the
    same problem as yours?

    Anyone know?
    MC

I dont worry about it too too much....I also use a K2500X.

From what I remember there is an internal battery, but it just stores the
memory of the machine, with the patch maps and all. I've heard of power
supply problems in the beasts, but I don't have the specifics.

Sounds like the same problem I have on the AX+. I've heard it's a power
supply problem, but I don't know more than that.

I'm not sure. I really need my AX+. Without it, I'll have to find another
    source for sounds that good.

Actually, I've been keeping my eyes open for an SX and an HX. These modules
    are getting pretty rare.

I'm surprised that no one here knows anything about these modules. I
remember the last time when I was on this forum, there were a lot of techs
who knew all kinds of things about the inner workings of the gear.

How hard can it be to check out the power supply?

I've been a tech for years and only have run across one of those modules. It
was the guitar unit. Had a cold solder joint on the rectifier. Quite simple
    fix.

The problem is most shop rates are 50-75 per hour. It shouldn't take more
than an hour even if you don't have a schematic.

That's good to know. All of the modules are the same internally based on
series. (all the original PX, SX, HX, and GX modules. The AX+, PX+, and pro
1 and 2 are on the same platform.)

I've sent my AX+ in before, and the shop told me it was just loose chips,
but that didn't solve the problem for long, so I suspect that there's
something more to it. I guess I need to find a different shop and send it
    in.

I never bothered with my PX and my HX because I ended up getting a keyboard
controller....love the Kurzweil sounds so much....I ended up with the
K2500.....The others are just taking up space in my rack....

I dont usually sell stuff...figuring there will come a day when I REALLY
will need it and will have wished I never got rid of it.

The PX has vibes which the K2500 is missing.....at least without getting
into the programming. But hell...Im a guitarist first!

    Hi,

There is a list dedicated to the k1000-k1200 series on Yahoo groups here:
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/K1000-K1200/

I highly recommend asking any questions about these modules there. If anyone
knows how to help you they will. They know these units inside out.

Check it out before you sell it. It might be something small that's easily
    fixed.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info. I'll talk with them about it. I need that module
working again, and I'd also love to find an editor for it that works in
Windows. Since I'm blind, editing the system on a module is impossible for
me unless there's a windows editor for it.

Okay, I got a lot more info on this tonight.

Yeah, there is an internal battery, and no one knows about ever seeing one
    die.

You really should join the 1000-1200 group, as a gentleman there, David
Brown, has an extensive web site that will most likely tell you how to fix
your modules simply and easily. Also, he will burn upgrade chips for the
modules for you for the cost of the chips and shipping costs, so it's a
really cool way to turn your PX and HX into Pro 1 and Pro2 modules with the
latest operating system. This really cranks the power of the modules, and
with a fully loaded Pro 1 or 2 the only thing I'd want is extra outputs.

There's a lot in these modules that people miss, and it really makes them
    powerful.
