After some years of research, I have come out with a Book on 22 srutis
music, namely, "The Mystic Citadel of 22 Sruti Music". This gives a
very new dimension to the concept of music at large. I have established
that an advanced ancient civilization (now extinct) had passed on their
asset of 22 sruti music after encoding and compressing it. The keys are
handed over as a part of our cultural heritage. However, these had
remained un-decoded for the past several millennia as the scientific
and technological environment had remained underdeveloped then. My
research work is a humble contribution towards unlocking these codes
using the abundant musicological and scientific tools as available in
our current century. While undertaking this work I had taken the Indian
route and relied heavily on the Indian musicological literature.
However, during the later period of my research work, I came to realize
that the "elements of music" as unravelled by me now, truly belong
to the world music community as it transcends all geographical
barriers. Therefore, I had tried to re-orient the presentation in my
Book to the extent feasible such that musicologists belonging to other
cultural groups could also participate. The "internal structure"
designed as 'codes' within this family of 22 srutis has the
potential to bring out a new genre of melody, if the game-rules are
correctly adhered to. This could be a quantum jump above the kind of
melody we are used to in our contemporary classical music!
