Thanks. I got that in my e-mail, and was tempted, but then ended up
deleting it. Your post made me reconsider it, then go check out some demos
and a review. I ended up deciding to go for it. I'm now waiting for the
serial number to arrive so I can try it out.

P.S. - I've since received the serial number and installed and tried the
software. There are loads of patches in it, so I only had time to try a
sampling, but I did try patches in most of the banks, and multiple patches
in the ones I did try. First thoughts:

Definitely don't expect this to include many, if any, accurate acoustic
instrument emulations. Despite the promise of physical modeling, I really
didn't hear anything that truly sounded even close to feeling as real as
some of the stuff that comes with even fairly basic sample libraries (e.g.
the stuff included with Dimension Pro), no less the quality dedicated stuff
(e.g. Quantum Leap RA, Garritan Stradivari or Gofriller, Chris Hein Guitars,
etc.). In general, the acoustic instrument emulation attempts sounded more
like analog synth recreations, albeit with characteristics of stringed
instruments. That is not to say they wouldn't be useful. They have some
very pleasant sounding, and definitely "warm", stuff. Perhaps they might be
useful for blending with thinner, but more accurate, sampled instruments, in
addition to being useful when accuracy isn't all that important. Perhaps
some of the cleaner guitar sounds might also be useful with an amp
simulator, though the playing technique possibilities don't seem to get
anywhere close to what something like Chris Hein Guitars can do once you
start getting into its keyswitches and strumming mode.

I think where this instrument will shine, though, is for more inventive
synth-type sounds that have different characteristics from the typical
subtractive or additive or FM synth. And the acoustic emulation stuff will
probably be able to see similar uses. Definitely worth at least the "no
    brainer" $20 price.

Forgot to mention that I was pleasantly surprised to see they had both
64-bit and 32-bit versions of the VST plug-in included (including the
possibility of installing both, each in a separate directory). It also
looks like it installs a DXi version, but it must be 32-bit only as it
doesn't open properly in SONAR x64, nor does it show up in the Plug-in
Manager to allow removing it from the menu easily. (I imagine it is
possible to do it with regsvr32.) The version I tried was the VST x64
    version.

That's part of the reason I'm passing on this one. I have so many soft
synths and some I don't think I've opened up.

Well I figure that since I am finally moving, I'll have a proper workspace
to set everything up and be able to sit down and learn to use some of this
crap. Luckily soft synths have been my last bastion so I dont have too
extensive of a library <yet>. You just went through the move in Chi-town
yourself, didnt you? How'd that go?

I moved from Chicago to Phoenix.
Somehow my Echo Mia didn't survive the moving process.

I have a very small work area with 3 computers and a HTPC.When you
boot 3 of them up, the ambient temp goes up. When I boot all 4 it makes
the modem puke and I have to reboot the modem.

Since I have very limited funds, it's a bit easier to pass up on these
deals. Within the past 6 months I've bought Ableton and Reason so now
I'm going to learn how to use them.

Well that sucks! Not the phoenix thing, got a few friends who moved there
over the last couple of years and say they will never come back to MI.

My current server room is kind of like that. Luckily it's a room with
windows on 3 walls, so I can somewhat control it. I'm not sure what the
configuration is going to be with the new house as it's 1000 sq ft smaller,
so I'll be severly limited on space. I suspect I'll run into the same
    problem as you with heat.

Well, sounds like an adventure. Good luck with that! I keep telling myself
that I'm going to do the same and take 3 or 4 months to really learn the
software, hasnt happened yet :) Luckily Reaper has been pretty intuitive
and fits my current needs. Hope that you are enjoying AZ! I'm sure the
lifestyle change from the midwest will take some getting used to.

LOL. Well, the way this winter seems to be coming early, I doubt you'll get
the chance to say that anytime soon!
