Glitch (http://illformed.org/plugins/glitch) is a handy little plug-in for mangling beats...it has attained to quite a cult following in some electronica circles, despite the fact that it suffers from some code crappiness. Although it flakes out on a number of sequencer packages, it doesn't play well at all for many people on Cubase 4 or 5 (me included). Sometimes it works perfectly...other times it crashes the entire sequencer. Usually when it starts getting flaky the behavior I see is that it opens in a tiny window, where only the Power, Bypass, and Edit buttons in the top left corner of the plug-in's GUI are visible (and you can't resize the box). I've noticed that it consistently works when I insert it as an Insert effect on a mono or stereo audio track which is the output from a VSTi, but inserting it as an Insert effect on a stereo audio track (not an output channel from a VSTi) it tends to exhibit the "small box" behavior. The only work-around I've found which usually (but not always) works is to insert it as an Insert effect onto a mono or stereo FX channel, then route the channels to it that I want to go through the plug-in. I have no idea why this usually works. Even with this occassionally the sequencer will just die and close (sometimes with no warning). Disabling Transport and MIDI input in the Glitch GUI doesn't seem to make a difference one way or another. The plug-in is so good that I'm willing to use the FX channel work-around even at the risk of if blowing up my sequencer occassionally. But, I'm curious what work-arounds those of you that also use it have stumbled across? -Ben
