Hi all, I'm hoping that a kind angel who knows something about obsolete equipment can shed some light on my problem. I got my hands on an old Arp AXXE (Model 2313) which I know from the original owner has been in storage for many years. I had it going when I first got my hands on it a few months ago, and it sounded delicious. Now, after sitting in the basement for 3 months, it won't make sound! Well, it does make sound, but it makes hardly any. I can't hear it unless I really crack the gain on my input mixer, and then what does come through sounds pretty much like it should - the controls seem to be responding properly - but the volume is virtually inaudible and very noisy. I haven't opened it up for surgery, and I thought it might be a good idea to seek out some advice before I do.... Any thoughts? TIA Dirk

Any thoughts? I'll leave comments to the learned people over in rec.audio.tech - crosspost added and verbose quote above for their benefit. Consequently I also added a "fut" pointing thataway, not to take traffic away from this group but because cross-posting is about finding out where something belongs and then take it there. > TIA > > Dirk Kind regards Peter Larsen -- ************************************************************* * My site is at: http://www.muyiovatki.dk * *************************************************************

Apply 3-in-one oil or a switchcleaner (*NOT* WD40!) to all controls and exercise them vigorously. Do the same for the output socket (apply the cleaning agent to a jack plug, then repeatedly insert it). If these don't work, the output stage may have an electrical fault. As far as I can remember, there are no scarce components in that part of the circuit, so a repair should not be difficult. Good Luck, Elmo' 7#9

Any thoughts? > Do ypu have responses to your question ? I don't think so. I am pretty experienced with synth but can't say any advice without looking iside and doing some test with the meter and scope. On ly thing I can advise is look for corrosion in internal connectors, potentiometers and switches, broken wiring and so on. If you are not an expert however you can make more harm than good to th instrument. If you were in Montreal (Quebc, Canada) I could help you. But I see you are in different time zone, somewhere in UK or Ireland, I guess. Good luck Greg
Not to belay the obvious or anything but . . . did you try a different patch cable? And more than one port on the mixer? I spoke to a few folks I know who suggested that it's probably a problem at the final output stage of the synth. I picked up a service manual on eBay which should be here any day now, so I can start checking voltages. Cheers Dirk http://members.shaw.ca/dirkvanderwal
