Does anybody actually BUY MIDI sequences? :D

Google any song name with a mid extension and chances are you'll see dozens of direct hits on exactly what you're looking for and chances are it will be free of charge.

The RIAA doesn't exactly waste a hell of a lot of energy cracking down on "illegal" MIDI files. :p

There are some sites that sell MIDI files which are supposed to be of "professional quality," but I haven't tried them yet.

If you download free MIDI files you'll find that the quality can vary a great deal, and there may also be multiple versions of a given song, so it's a good idea to download all of the ones you can find of a song you're interested in, eliminate any that are exact duplicates except for the filename, and then see which version sounds the best.

You might want to use a free program like NCH Crescendo or Notation Player to view the MIDI file as sheet music, print the parts (MIDI channels) that you're interested in, etc.

You might also want to edit the "program numbers" (i.e., "patches" or instrument sounds) that are specified for each track (MIDI channel) so you can replace it with a better-sounding one from your instrument. Casio calls them "tones" and your owner's manual should list the Bank Select and Program Change numbers to use to pick each of your keyboard's tones.

Thanks a lot for the info. It is strange though that you can not find one good site for MIDI files that you can buy them knowing that they will be of a professional quality.

Oh, there are sites where you can buy MIDI files that are supposed to be "professional" quality-- I just haven't purchased from any of them, so I can't vouch for them myself.

As for the free MIDI files, they can range in quality from excellent to poor, depending on how much effort was put into creating them. Fortunately, even a MIDI file of poor quality can be useful if you're able and willing to put some time of your own into improving it-- correcting any "bad" notes, tweaking the note velocities, changing the program numbers so the tracks use the best tones that your keyboard has, etc.

If you had a Yamaha keyboard then I'd recommend that you check out the Yamaha MusicSoft web site-- but the MIDI files on that site are customized for Yamahas and you have a Casio. You can search for "buy professional midi files" or something like that. A few results are listed below:

http://www.midivox.com/
http://www.backingtracksworld.com/
http://www.midiking.com/
http://www.ronfry.com/
http://www.hittraxmidi.com/

and so on. But like I said, I can't vouch for any of them myself.

Some sites do let you listen to a sample of the file before you buy it, but they also sell both MIDI versions and MP3 versions of the song, and I don't know whether the sample is representative of the MIDI version.

BTW, one caveat to my earlier comments. When I said the RIAA doesn't crack down on MIDI files the exception is when they are used in professional venues such as Karaoke files used in bars and clubs.

In those cases you'd better have all your ducks lined up in a row when they ask to see the licenses of what you have in your inventory.

As far as recommending good Karaoke dealers, I know there are big ones in every country that have the licenses for that particular country but you'll have to do your own research there.

These sites do exist because we have been selling professional MIDI files since 1993 and we are STILL selling them in respectable numbers to boot! Please google heavenlymediaservices ... Not the greatest looking site on the web but we're not webmasters, we're professional musicians and ex recording artists AND we use these to perform with ourselves ;-) Hope this helps.
