    Hey there,

It took a while ... plenty of fun distractions ... but ...
it's done and I've been playing it for a few hours ... setting the action.
It'll probably be really tweaked in a few months, but so far it's pretty good and usable.

Lots of pics from 7:00 AM 'til about 1:00 PM when I got it done.
    http://www.sightsea.com/renders/korina_finished/

047.jpg is where it got strung up ... lot's of strange stuff before that ... wiring, and a few DOF shots down the neck,
and some strange lighting experiments, but interesting if you're into such.
    ---------
    Specs:
Warmoth: 1 piece Black Korina body finished with Behlins Master-Gel ( yum! I love the gel ... so easy to use )
Warmoth: Neck: '59 roundback, pro construction, compound radius (10/16)
1-3/4" (at the nut) Padouk(core wood) / Bloodwood (also called Satine) (fretboard)
Wilkinson VS-100 with a heavy brass block from KGC:
    http://tinyurl.com/2efm8rd

Alembic: STR/AE-1 Yea ... the $1300.00 dollar one, which I got for $50.00 (used) as a spare and have been sitting on
for 10+ years. I've got the same in my hard tail strat, but they were only $200 ish back when I originally got it.
    3 bat switches. I don't like 5 ways.
It's slightly brighter and more mid range (crunchy) than my mahogany strat.
I'll post some audio clips when I get around to it.

    -------

Next one will be chambered Alder, 1 F hole, finished in Duplicolor (car paint) "Silver Shadow" like a Rolls,
but actually like my old Triumph 650 Bonneville tank,
with a 1-7/8" superwide FATback or boatneck, and strung with nylon using Ghost saddles.
I've already bought the Ghost saddles so it's already a WIP!

Stunning. Built and fitted with TIGHT tolerances.

Beautiful work with the copper cavity. I've been using the messy black
    paint. (Yuk)

I've had some successes with my prototype but nothing I'm proud enough
about to show yous guyses. ;)

Thanks for sharing all those pics, Steve. I've been wondering how your
    project went.

Does your truss adjust from the side?

    Thanks.

Yes. It was fun and also very educational.

The springs are very light tension, are called "Raw Vintage"
    http://www.rawvintage.com/eng/item_springs.php
.... so it's really not that tight.

It's strung with Ernie Ball 9s, but I might take one out, later on.

    Thanks!

I did buy some more shielding paint, since my first warmoth was done that way, but didn't use it
because the guys at the Warmoth forum were saying the copper tape was a better shield.
I like the tape now. It's very easy to use.

Yes, this is a side (fine) adjust truss rod, but the main adjustment is on the heel
    with a big flat srew.

Beautifully executed, Steve. Very nice work on the internals,
especially. I've been a long-time fan of the Wilkinson trem, but Dayum,
man! FIVE springs??? What're you stringing her up with, .13's??

    :)

    eric

BTW, After being a D'Aaddario user since I first started playing, I
recently switched to GHS Nickel Rockers in my Heritage. Wonderful
strings! I will never use anything else.

    Thanks Eric!

13s LOL ... not since before I discovered Ernie Ball in the late 60's !
Yea ... before that I was probably playing 13's but not since.

The springs are very light tension, are called "Raw Vintage"
    http://www.rawvintage.com/eng/item_springs.php
.... so it's really not that tight.

It's strung with Ernie Ball 9s, but I might take one spring out, later on.
It only feels very slightly tighter than the last Floyd Rose I had which only had 2 normal springs on it and also strung with 9s,
but it's not as loose as the kahler on my G&L.

Maybe it's that there's a lot of leway in the claw springs ? I dunno.
I was just really surprized that it worked with 5 and stays in tune enough now to tell me they'll
eventually work when I get it really adjusted properly for dive bombs.

This is my first Wilkinson and I've gotta say I'm very impressed.
It has great saddles and adjustment screw design and great tone and sustain.
I need to find a straighter bar though or get a spare and figure out how to bend it to a flatter angle.

    Very nice guitar..

Are you going to put a slideshow with audio onto Youtube? I'd
be very interested to hear it as well as see it....

    019.jpg.. I'm a bit of a mierenneuker but I would always use
heatshrink over soldered joints so close....

Was any woodwork required? - or do these parts just fit together
like a kit? If the tolerances are good - this seems like a very
convenient way to assemble a guitar.

What sort of tweaking was required for the body/neck angle?
Did it just bolt on, already aligned? That would be very nice...

I've heard a lot about Warmouth - but never seen / handled
one.... and 'Alembic' is also new to me... some stuff just
doesn't seem to cross the Atlantic.....

Their claim - on their site "We were the first to bring active
circuitry to basses and guitars way back in 1969" is a little bit..
wrong.. Burns were there in 1962/3... I've got one..

Very good photos ... There's nothing like building a guitar
to look like you want and sound like you want.. and I do look
    forward to hearing it play....

    Thanks,

Yea. 019.jpg was a redo ... I got it wrong the first time. :p
I was trying to use a par of stats to suck up the heat but it didn't work.

Slideshow on YouTube ... na. I'll just do some clips eventually.

The only wood working I needed to do was the slight widening of the jack hole, on the inside
because the jack wasn't long enough to catch the threads. You can see it in the same 019.jpg
I just used my dremel and a small router bit.

Oh ... I also drilled the control holes for the pots and switches but that's because I wanted
them in a different place than a normal strat. The angle is more in line with the neck rather than
the slant down that fender does.

Warmoth has it down to a fine art. No tweaking of anything required except truss rod.
Perfect neck angle, very tight pocket, and perfect string allignment along the edges.
The nut is even really good.
