Theoretical question - my dongle isn't broken - but has anyone on here had experience with a dongle breaking, either physically or just losing the license info? If so, how do Steinberg view it, do they just say "tough, buy another one" or can you send it to them for replacement? Or do these things simply never break cheers, TWJ

Google it!

Ah, that doesn't sound too bad then thanks, TWJ

The support guy at Steinberg in Germany was a sarcastic little sh** ..which I didn't like one bit. It.took a couple of weeks to get a replacement out of them but all is well now... Meanwhile I've been playing with Windows 7...and very good it looks too. Cubase and all the my associated kit seems to work really well. I had a couple of minor compatibility issues but nothing that couldn't be sorted. It has to be the first time I've had anything kind to say about a new Windows release...but I can't knock it. Boot-up and shut-down times are good...there is thankfully little by way of bloat-wear unless you ask for it...none of the horrors of Vista. We appear to have a worthy successor to XP. I reckon I'll buy it!! LL

However on my music PC it's "XP till I die" (or until I buy new hardware that doesn't have XP drivers ). I hardly ever see the operating system anyway, the machine boots and I immediately start Cubase. I certainly didn't like Vista, I bought a laptop with it pre- installed and after about 6 months went back to XP. cheers, TWJ

God... I can't believe after all these years that Cubase tech support still acts like assholes. I still remember the Canadian tech support guy Ray Williams from way back in 1993... What a total prick he was... all I asked was a simple question about Cubase 2.5 and he told me if I didn't like it, to take it back where I got it... then he hung up on me. I never forgot that and still remember his shitty attitude every time I use Cubase even now almost 20 years later. Apparently he's now a director for the company or something. Just goes to show, ya treat people like crap and you get rewarded for it.
