    Hi,

I'm considering getting Cubase 5 - currently using Cubase LE that came
bundled with some hardware. With LE I'm able to install it as many
times as I like which is useful as I have it on my main home studio
computer plus a laptop for location recordings. I never use both at
    the same time.

Would this be possible with 5? I'm thinking that if there's just a
dongle then I could plug that into whichever computer I was using that
day, but if it's one of those products that forces 1-time activation
then I'm out of luck (unless I buy two copies of course).

Also, if it is 1-time activation, and I find I want to re-install my
complete OS (I do this from time to time), will the software activate
again without problem (anyone tried this?). If I completely replaced
my studio PC what then? (I'm generally not a fan of activation s/w for
    precisely this issue!)

Looking for some guidance before laying out half a grand..
    cheers,

According to what a Steinberg guy said at a Cubase5 demonstration workshop
recently, it *is* possible and allowed to install Cubase5 on as many
machines as you wish to. To use the program, you have to plug in a dongle.
So, it´s possible and allowed to move the USB dongle from computer to
    computer.
He said nothing about an activation procedure.

That´s all I can say about this, as I´m not a C5 user yet...

    Hope that helps,

    Phil

Yes, it's a dongle. Install wherever you like, carry the dongle
    around.
