Hello everyone, I recently build a new PC with Win XP SP2 on it. What I'm doing right now is reinstalling everyhting like it was on my old computer. This way, I'll be able to open old projects with no problem, if needed. *But* I bought cubase 4 and, before I even had the time to consider installing it, I just received the Cubase 5 upgrade My question is simple: I know that one can install both Cubase SX1 and Cubase 5. Have any of you did that, already? I'm a little bit scared about problems that could occur with plug ins , for instance. WHat about VST plug ins that are not compatible with SX1? Is there a way to create a secondary VST plug in that would just contain what's only compatible with Cubase5? I was willing to set up another system (another XP on another partition) just in order to start a clean Cubase 5 set up. But the idea of having both the softwares on the same system is quite tempting . But I really want to be sure that there are no problems neither with the VSTinstruments nor with the VST effects (at least , we know that DirectX plugs won't cause us any trouble ;-). Thanks, Huey

These can be specified in your options (Device/Plug-information/add/remove/change/Shared VST plug-ins folder)...which is how I manage to run Cakewalk, Cubase, Nuendo, Ableton Live, Muzys, Wavelab, Magix, Fruity Loop, EXP, Vegas, Audition and Sound Forge on the same system...and yeah...I think they all have their strengths. Kind Regards, CS

The special thing in my story is that I never installed cubase 4 (I bought it in December), since I was busy setting up my new PC. The 2 cubase version involved in my new system would be cubase *SX1* and Cubase 5. >anything in the directory system not > specifically identified by the uninstallation routine will survive and > you can then use the same folder for your installation of C5 and > specify the same VST folders. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Hhuey

It's an upgrade as far as pricing goes, but a separate new version in computer terms. You don't need a previous version loaded. CubaseFAQ page: http://www.laurencepayne.co.uk/CubaseFAQ.htm
