I have a problem with my xp80 that goes something like this: none of my disks work anymore, I keep getting "disk read/write error" messages even when trying to format a new disk. Ive done the diagnostic and on the drive check part of the diagnostic where it says "HD" the message is "WE" instead of "OK" like it says under the disk write protect part of the drive check. Any takers? Please help!!!! Thanks in advance tm
Hello, I have no real experience with XP 80 but I had a S10 (over 10 years ago so forgive me when details are old) with a disk drive as well. Once I had a problem with a disk and found out the 'write protect' was changed. So I thought write protect was 'off' but by mistake write was 'on'. This looks an idiot thing but at that time it took me an evening because I thought no that's too simple to check. So sometimes you don't check a simple thing because you'd expect it not to be the problem. Good luck with finding the and solving the problem. Kees
