    Hi

I have a Mk1 DX7 with the SuperMax board, which until recently was fine.
Suddenly, it seems to have re-tuned every key to about 50Hz ! The on-board
battery is fine according to the LCD and the DX works fine as a MIDI
    keyboard.

I suspect that the Supermax board is at fault and wondered whether I could
just pull the board out - so here are the questions :

    1. Does the board plug-in or is it soldered?
    2. Does the supermax board have its own backup battery which could be
    responsible for the problems
    3. If I remove the supermax board, will I be missing the original DX7 ROM?

As you can see, I only have a vague idea of how these boards were fitted (my
DX7 was bought s/h with it installed).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks

    Adrian
