Can Cubase 5 import and display a video file as a track, show
thumbnails of frames, so that I could use Cubase 5 to compose music
and match it up with the movie file (e.g. I have Sony ACID Pro 6.0 and
it can do this, but ACID Pro is limited compared to Cubase in that
ACID can not do composition with notes on staves, etc.)? I think I see
that Nuendo does that, but Nuendo is much more expensive. I do not
need timecode sophistication, just some basic watch to see how the
composed music sequences match up to frames of a movie seen as
thumbnails on a track. Considering what sequencing software to buy,
Cubase 5 looks impressive, I just need to find out an answer to this
question. Any help on this question is greatly appreciated, thank you
    in advance. ~randall

    Yes.
Cubase has done that since about SX a few years ago.
Depending on the video format you may need a codec

ring what sequencing software to buy,

OMG, thank you SOOoooo much Terry for answering my question. I have
been at my wits end trying to discover the answer. It is nowhere on
Cubase's website (steinberg.net), there is no phone number or email
address to contact Steinberg.net about this question (unless you
already own the product, which means if you have a question about a
product but not yet own it you are left in the dark on pre-sales
questions), I googled images.google.com for screenshots and could not
find one single screenshot showing a video track. I did find, as you
say, that Cubase SX does this, but there is no mention of it for
Cubebase 5, and I need to be sure before shelling out hundreds of
    dollars for this product.
    Thanks again!
