And I hope my NI Komplete package runs with more stability. Their instruments do not like to be tweaked in Cubase.
Re: Finally upgrading to Cubase 5 after using Cubase Studio 4 for 3 years. Any tips? My only advice is buy a couple of DVD instructional videos. I upgraded from Cubase VST 24 to Cubase 4 a few years back and then again to Cubase 5. Each time it didn't matter how many times I read the instructions or played around with it... the only way I finally understood it was to watch a DVD with visuals and audio. Even now I still forget stuff and have to refer back to the DVD's occasionally. As far as NI goes, I use NI Kontakt, Absynth, Kore, Pro-53 and several others and the only problems I've ever had was when I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Several plug-ins kept crashing Cubase constantly. Especially Spectronics Omnisphere. With the NI stuff, the only hassle I"ve ever had was an old demo version of Artist Grooves I'd been using to write several songs. When I upgraded to Kontakt 4 and bought Artist Grooves with the free Kontakt 4 Player, they'd discontinued the custom player I'd been using and none of my old drum tracks would work anymore. I had to go back and reroute all the drum tracks from "Artist Grooves" to "Kontakt 4" and hope like hell I kept notes on which patch I'd used cause some of the locations had changed.
