My wife finally gave me permission to dig into her EG-20 whose upper keyboard stopped working. The problem, as I suspected, was a disconnected (ribbon) cable under the keyboard. I was amused at the 68000 CPU in the electronics section, I used to teach assembly language using that processor. Had undergrads write Pong for the Mac in assembly. Took me 3 seconds to fix the cable but an hour to fit the wood-veneer particleboard cover back on. Now my 4 year old will be able to learn more than "music for left hand" or bass lines, once he is able to concentrate for more than a few minutes. I suppose some rockers never achieved this, and for them there are MIDI sequencers, no? PS: there are 2" diam tubes (ports) connecting the built-in speakers to the central volume, that's how they get the nice sound reproduction.
