can anyone explain in words or one sylabal the difference in the fp range and the rd range. In particular I am interested in the fp-2 and teh rd-300sx. Is is about voices? inbuilt speakers? or what? Thanks C
hello, I'm not so familiar with the fp range but I do know the RD range (I gad the RD 150, RD 170 and RD 500 and played on the RD 300SX and RD700SX The FP is called a home piano and the RD is called a Stage piano. This might tell you something. Like the FP will have a nicer (fixed) stand and probably speakers as well. The RD is more for on the road.; no speakers but more options like sounds and rhytms and stuff. The feel is different in both instruments. That's something personal and you have to experience this. So go and play on both of them. The RD300SX has lots of features such as ryhtms and splits. What I don't like about the RD300SX is that you can not expand this one with expansion boards. If your looking for expandable version that's a minor so look for another. I like the RD 700 which is a bit older but has a nice touch, nice rhytms and can handle expansion 2 boards. It has 3 layers + rhytm while the RD 300SX has only 2 layers. The RD 700SX has 4 layers but its price is almost twice the RD 700 If you work with computers the RD SX series is ok as is has USB ! Sorry for not knowing the fp but I loved the RD as I saw it Kees The RD 300SX is light weigthed for a weighted keyboard.
Thanks for the info Kzie. Your comments make sense as many of the Yams and Rolands I have tried look more suited to home use rather than gigging. I am seriously looking at the 300sx despite its limitations. Portability and piano sound are priorities. I will have to try action of course but in my price range It looks good. C
