    Hello:

I spent a good part of my last two days trying to find FREE software for my keyboard and to connect it to my PC. I had some success.
The Midi-USB interface cable UM-G1 that I got worked very well.

The best free Midi keyboard software that I came across is:
    http://hammersoftware.net/midiocre.html
The con to this software is that the music has to be played from the PC KB with the music KB connected inorder to play/record.

Muse Score looks good for those who compose music.

Here are all the rest of the FREE Midi KB software:

I researched just the results from this search to find my software.

I realized later when typing this post that I limited myself inadvertently severely in the above search. The link below is a more complete list:

List of JUST Midi software that is free:

FREE Midi software List for Linux users:

Note on This: I dual boot my PC and am mainly a Linux user. But in the case of musical KB, it was safe to use windows first as I couldn't find Linux drivers.

I decided to start a thread on this and share it here, as this list is huge. As a single person I can't explore them all, specially as a newbie with a very limited background. I encourage everyone to dig in and discover/share all the good, bad software in this collection. This will benefit all. Also, I expect some of the links to be old/invalid, some others not freeware etc., These corrections can be easily notified to the site and they can keep it updated for the benefit of all.

The parent site primewares.com is a site that maintains lists of 1000s of free software that is searchable. I am not associated with that site. However, I have used it to find whenever I needed free software for over the last several years. If you need anything else from there, feel free to search there.

    Hope this was helpful.

    Warm Regards,

    Vijay
