So I've been hearing this song on the radio that they use a snippet of when
coming back from a break and it has this cool bass line. I've been trying
to figger out who it was, so today I used Reaper to record a couple hours
off the radio. I then copied the wave file to my keychain flash drive, and
brought it home to see if I could find a clip of it.

Sure enough I did find it, so I played the little 15 second clip into my
Blackberry running "Shazam", and within a few seconds, it ID'd the song as
being "In the Meantime" by "Spacehog". Technology is fun and useful! ;)

In case nobody gets the jist of what this actually means, I used wave
pattern matching software on my phone to identify a 15 second clip of
some music snagged off the radio. It identified the artist, the title of
the song, and even gave me an easy way to order the album.

Well, *I* think it's pretty ****in' cool that I can ID a song with 15
seconds of audio using my phone. I've been trying to find out what the
song with the cool bass line was for a while now, and finally using Reaper
to record the radio for a while and my phone to ID the snippet of the song,
I finally know what the song is and who the artist is, so I can now pick
    out that cool bass line!

I'm just surprised that music fingerprint matching technology is a boring
topic in a group that's about music and technology. But I guess I should
have expected it, since posts with subjects like "Cakewalk Audio group
test" attract the most (27) replies. <g>

Isn't there some test post you'd be more comfortable replying in? <g>
