    Mr. Brown,

I purchased your suite of plugins in 2001 or 2002 including the mastering
limiter, dynamics processor, multiband limiter and deesser. Lately I have
decided to reinstall and use them but I can't locate my authorization email
    or codes.

I originally ordered them when I lived in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I now live
    in Nashville, TN.

    (name and email redacted)

Is there any way you can provide support to me to reauthorize my purchase?

This is my second request without a response.

    Thank you in advance.

That's a bummer. Every time I buy something online that has install codes
or other required installation info, I *always* burn two CDs of the install
program and all associated emails. Then I email myself to multiple email
addresses, all the install codes. That way I have a record of it in my
sent folder, as well as in a bunch of other inboxes and archive folders.

Yup. I also print out the emails and save it in a file cabinet.

Hope you get it resolved soon. They're good plugs.

I haven't communicated with him in a long time, but Dave Brown was always
pretty attentive back when I first got those plugs. I had some issue with
one of them and he got the problem solved for me quick.

Thanks to a nice virus back in '07 I lost all my old emails and I think I
had the install codes stored somewhere, but we moved and now they're
probably buried in a box with old halloween decorations or some such.

    Yep, bummer.

At this point I'd use warez or crackz (verified safe ones, that is).
You paid for the rights to use the product and are therefore entitled to
use it. If the seller is non-responsive and CPR isn't working, maybe
it's time to turn to the 'dark side'...

Verified safe ones? Best chance is torrents. Warez are never on verified
    safe sites.

Most warez that come with a key generator always trigger AV apps.

I'd give Dave a chance to get back to you first. He's a good guy, and I'm sure he'll help. (unless
    he's not around anymore...)

You might try this address, if you haven't yet. You'll need to fix the
(at) and spaces to be @ without the spaces. This may not even be a valid
address any more, but might be worth a shot.

When I say 'verified safe ones' -- I don't care what the source is. I
mean verify it yourself -- or get someone that knows what they're doing,
    to do it for you.

Kite, if you haven't gotten a bug from torrent yet (even so-called
*verified* torrents) -- you will one day. Maybe not as often as with
in-the-wild warez but it will occur. After all, Torrents contain warez
and crackz, that's the whole point isn't it? (excepting legal torrents
    of course)

Yes I wholeheartedly agree to try and get his attention first -- if he's
still around. But if not, then the crack or keygen is a consideration.

Another (legal) consideration. If someone on this group lives in that
area code, perhaps they could try contacting him by phone to let him
know emails are going unanswered. Or perhaps he's physically located in
the same area as his PO box and might be trackable to a business or
other street address for a walk-up. (I once had some reservations about
doing business with a web seller in Australia. A friend lived about 100
miles away from the guy, but generously offered to go look the guy up
for me. A new friendship was born and I got the thumbs up to do
business with the guy as well, which turned out great.)

Just curious, how do you verify warez? Not that I use them; I prefer
being a legit user with the right to product support.

I once had to reinstall XP and I couldn't find my product key
printout. Fortunately the previous install was still functional so I
Googled for a keyfinder. Zone Alarm Security had fits, but I could
specify the file to be ignored. Safe to do when you know that's the
reason, but how can you be sure the keygen is all that's triggered
    the AV?

Wish I had a simple answer for that question, but I don't... For me it
has been time and experience, a variety of techniques tools and tricks
and a lot of research. For me it's the same game that lets me keep a/v
products off my systems if I'm the only user of those systems, and nary
an infection. Wish I could explain it better, sorry...

I got this reply from Dave Brown:
    "Hi John,

Yes, we're still here. The guy in question now has his auth codes.

    Regards,
    Dave."

So it sounds like everything's OK ;-)

For the record, db audioware is a small company and I still handle
most support personally. When things get busy (or I am out of the
office) lower priority requests like this can take a few days to
    process.

It's a shame that the gentleman above was only willing to wait 36
hours before deciding that a public flogging would be an appropriate
    tactic.

For the record, db audioware customers are guaranteed uninterrupted
usage in situations like this. For older plugins (like the DirectX
plugins in question here) a fully functional 21 day demo is freely
available from our website, which gives plenty of time for replacement
codes to be issued. Newer products have 24/7 online access to
replacement codes and the latest software releases.

And your older plugs still rock!!!

The dB-L Mastering Limiter is a plug I use on *every* project I create.
