    Hey guys,
First post so please be kind: does anyone know of any resources/the proper way to upload MIDI files from card to keyboard/synthesizer, and are there are any compatibility issues from company to company (can Korg MIDI files can go into my Yamaha/any other synthesizer?).

    Thank you so much,
    Omar

    Omar,

Generally speaking, ANY midi-file can be used in ANY midi-keyboard as long as it is a SMF (Standard Midi File).
The sound however can be very different from the various keyboards as the VOICES or TONES are not all the same in all brands.
Yes, the 127/128 GM voices (General Midi) are standard in all midi-instruments but lets say the XG-voices in the Yamaha keyboards will sound different if you play a Yamaha-recorded-midi in a Roland or Korg or Casio.
What you will hear with a bit of luck is a replacement GM voice. Other brands have their own special voices and they will sound different when played on a Yamaha-keyboard.
I hope this answers your question.
