    Hey Glennbo:

I've just been reading then review of the new Avatone Active Mixcubes
    in SOS magazine.
    http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun10/articles/mixcubeactives.htm

These are great secondary monitors. I like them better than the
Auratones and the self powered is a bonus. These speakers have
definately help me place the vox, bass, kick and snare better in a
    mix.

    Good review!

Is Avatone made by Auratone? They sure have similar names and
functionality if they aren't. Those doods are sure pricy, but then using
un-flattering monitors are great for getting your mixes dialed in, because
if you can make it sound good on them, it will sound great across a wide
    variety of different quality speakers.

No this is a different company. Auratone went out business. They
also come a s a Mono block (only one) to cut cost. I got the pair.
