Guitarist Songwriter Very New to Keyboards

Hello there,
I'm a guitarist/songwriter and I have had a MIDI controller for a while but not really played it well.
I've just used it to put synth bass lines in and things like that.
I'd like to be a better musician generally, one goal is to learn keyboards well and also learning to sight read music.
I downloaded some Piano Marvel software this week and I've been playing with that.
I like the way it starts from a very basic level and very slowly adds more complexity so you don't feel completely lost.

I'd love to hear any insights on quick and effective ways of gaining keyboard skills. I can play guitar pretty well
and I touch type quite quickly as I work with computers.

Sounds like you're off to a good start.

Practice, practice, practice. If you're able to get yourself a teacher that won't hurt either.

I second the "get a teacher if possible". Teachers spend a lot of time with very small students; adult students are prized.
