Hello! WelshPhil here! Ageing keyboard player with some nice kit (some bought recently!) recently joined this forum. May need to ask advice on connectivity and stage set-ups etc. but for now, just saying hello!
Hello down there from up north (proper north of you - Scotland - not that "Manchester is the north" stuff I get from my London based colleagues)
Hello to Goz211 from North Wales! Hey there! I used to live in Crieff and also in Alloa for a 10 year period so I know all about the London softie-stuff etc!! Now in North Wales - almost as great as sonje places in Scotland!! ANyway how about a call sometime mate? XXXXXXXXX is my moble or email addres = philipctjenkins@yahoo.co.uk drop me an email etc - speak soon.
I've been to Bala in North Wales (back in th 80s). Really liked it - very beautiful area - like up here. Hope the gigs are well paid, plentiful and finish early where you are.
BALA lake - excellent outdoor type activity centre for all types of things! Going to take my 10 year old daughter quad-biking there in next 2 weeks!! UP into the forests on a trek type deal - father and daughter stuff!! Excellent! Anyway - wondering if I could ask you for your keyboard and kit list and how you link things together and I will then send you mine . Looking to get back into live work but for the moment, my best friend and I are using my newly purchased Yamah Tyros 2, Fatar Studio 900 MIDI keyborad driving Roland JV1080 and JV1010 modules for piano soiunds, with my favourite Roland VK-7 organ for B3 type sounds. Have some other modules and a couple of other/standby keyboards but we can chat about them later! Wanted to ask if you knew of any VISIO type drawing software that I could docucment MIDI, audio and connectivity generally as well as perhasp do a stage setup to enable a standard "template" to be used each and every time when playing live to speed up the set-up and take-down process and help time and effort etc with cabling . That would be great if you knew some software that wouyld do these jobs? ! Cal or email me if you could please. Speak soon! Phil
I'm back to a single keyboard for just about all live work - a 76 key Roland Juno Stage. It's very light, the keys feel ok for both piano repertoire and synth/organ stuff. I play in mono and send an XLR feed to the PA via a passive DI. I also take a 1/4" jack out from the DI and run it to whatever I'm using for onstage monitoring. I've gigged various rigs in the past - hardware synths, heavy digital pianos and rack mounted modules. I even had a TX7 module once that was just velcro-fixed to a Roland RD300S (the older model from the late 80s/early 90s). I also gigged with a laptop for a while running VSTs and using a Roland A33 for a controller keyboard. Don't know of any specialised software to draw out cable diagrams. Can you get away with just midi cables from the Fatar to the two JV modules (maybe rack the 1010) and then audio (mono) from the Tyros, the two JV modules and the VK7 into a 4 channel mixer (or a line mixer)?
Goz211 - Just thinking about the possible approach you suggtested - how easy is it or would it be to change the voices on a) the JV1010 and/or the JV-1080 between songs when live for example, and how would I do that? On the Fatar Stuio 900 there are no preset/config/save buttons to save each song's settings under. Any ideas?
