I recently purchased an ME1 that I was hoping to use as the sound source to play miid files from my PC. I use Voyetra Record Producer. Here's the problem. When I send the midi signal from my PC to the ME1, the instruments seem to get played all wrong. Specifically, the drum track triggers a piano-type sound and the other tracks also sound different than their intended instrument. This occur for the 100 or so midi files I have. This problem does not occur when using the sound card as the sound source. Is there a way to set up the ME1 to play the "correct" instruments as indicated by the midi file or do I have to do this manually for each file? Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ohms
Well, this may or may not help. Let me explain: Your sound card is undoubtedly a General MIDI device with GM voice assignments, and the ME1 isn't. So when you send it GM tracks it plays the right notes but the wrong sounds, since the voice assignment numbers are different. There MAY be a way to put the ME1 in GM mode, which would be the quick-n-easy way to fix it, but you'd have to check your manual to see. Otherwise you'll need to re-assign voice numbers. Hope that helps. Later, Michael Houston On Sun, 08 Aug 2004 17:56:50 GMT, wrote: > >I recently purchased an ME1 that I was hoping to use as the sound >source to play miid files from my PC.
