Forgive me as im trying to learn cubase but am seriously struggling. I
have created a track, midi drums, synths sent to effects etc. I have
bounced it down to MP3 and Wave, and when I play back via windows
media player all of my midi drums are missing out of the
mixdown...... Everything else is there but the drums.... When I open
it in cubase everything is there, drums play away etc.. but not in the
bounced file. I thought it might be that the drums (which are GM
mapped via LM7) were only going to a monitor track but have no idea
how to rectify this! I have tried to look on the net but cannot find
anything, Please help, its probably just me being a plum, but im so
close to completing my first song and its really annoying me :(

Have you tried to put the drum track(s) in "solo" mode and "export to
audio"? What happens then? Does the resulting file contain any drum sounds?
Usually, everything you hear during playback in Cubase, goes to a "bounced"
WAV (or whatever audio file format you choose) - this applies at least, if
you don´t use external midi instruments. An LM-7 should be heard in a
    bounced WAV without any "tweaks"...

If it does not work, try what happens, if you start off with a new project
file. Insert a MIDI track, put some notes into it, route the track through
an LM-7. Then export to WAV and hear, if there´s anything in this file.

Generally, it would be helpful to know at least, which particular version of
    Cubase you are using. ;-)

    Hope that helps,

    Phil

Solo the drums. Play the song. Does audio from the drums show up in
the output bus at the far R. of the mixer window?

Have you set up any custom routing at all?

Hi, I havnt tried exporting the drums to an Audi File, I looked at
doing this but wasnt sure how to. Sorry for the lack of info, Im using
Cubase SX3. I am using a Midi Keyboard. When I play the track in Solo
mode no sound comes to the output bus at the far right. Im dont think
I have set up any custom routing but not sure where to check. Have
looked in the preferences on the midi filtering but cannot see
anything. I'll have a look at creating a new track and route it
    through the LM7 and export.

Hi, No sound comes out the output bus on the far R of the mixer
window. I dont know if there are any custom routings, dont know how to
    check.

But you HEAR the drums when you play the track? What route is that
    sound taking I wonder?

Hi, yes on playback and even in key editor I hear the playback. How do
I check to see what they are routed too?

Ok just created a midi track, input some notes via key editor using
the piano instrument. Same thing, nothing exports just a blank file.
but when I send the creation to a VST instrument the sound plays on my
output bus on the far right and exports down. I have three options on
where to send the sound (without a VST instrument) 1 is Microsoft GS
wavetable SW (Synth), the other 2 ar SB X-Fi synth A & B. I have tried
to send to all three and still get no output on a standard riff. My
Sound card should be alright, its a Soundblaster X-Fi with Asio
    compatibility so Im stuck.........

Ok, think im there..... My VST instruments are going out via an ASIO
Multimedia Driver Sterio out. These appear in the output bus on the
far right. When I create a midi riffsI dont have the option of sending
them to ASIO Multimedia Driver Stereo out. but I can get around it by
sending them though a VST instrument so...... Thanks for all your
time, I really was pulling my hair out!!!!! if anyone know why I cant
send my output on midi created files to my ASIO Multimedia Driver
Stereo out please let me know............ Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're catching on now? Cubase can mix down sounds created in
Cubase. This means audio tracks and VST instrument tracks (which are
essentially audio tracks with a sound-producing insert effect
applied.) If you route MIDI to devices outside Cubase - hardware
synths on your soundcard or the Microsoft Synth in Windows - Cubase
won't include these in a mixdown. There are ways to feed these
sources back into Cubase. Have you read my FAQ pages?
