I've been wanting this sample set from the moment I heard the room. I just got the "New York Studios Vol. 2 - The Lost Studios". It has kits sampled in two of the finest sounding rooms that *used* to be in NY. The samples were done in Allaire Studios and the Hit Factory. The snare sound in the Hit Factory is what sold me. This is a real rough initial dialing in of that kit to my V-Drums. Also take note that there are *NO* effects on this recording. It's pure Hit Factory room, mic'd up at several distances. Anyway, here's the first take. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=403575&songID=9425023 -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

The only thing I'm not 100% happy with on this kit is the kick, and that very well may be a velocity tweaking that needs to happen. I haven't at all got to tweaking the velocity sensitivity on these new samples/kits. All I did with this "Hit Factory" kit was to add a second rack tom, tweak the balances in Superior's mixer, and set the outputs to hit my normal multiple faders in the DAW host. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

My gut feeling is that the Hit Factory kick might sound better if I reduce it's velocity sensitivity. It sounded like it was being spiked, even when I wasn't hitting it that hard, and that's what I didn't like about it. This being my first test, I'm not yet going to go for a differnet kick. If in a week I still don't like it, I will definately swap it out. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms
Wow, sounds pretty damn good G'bo. I wasnt impressed with the sound of the floor toms, but that could just be the speakers I'm playing it on, and like you said, no effects so I'm keeping that in mind. The snare and cymbals sound awesome, for a non drummer POV. Eventually I'll be setting up my midi kit when we get moved and I have the room, and may have to look into this. I highly reccomend this expansion pack, and I haven't even gotten into the Allair Studios kits, which on first blush sound kinda like the BIG John Bonham drum sound. Very fun to play and very expressive. I'll be on vacation the first week of August, and will only be out of town for a couple days, so the rest of the time, I'll likely be dialing up some kits to have ready for use in my arsenal. >> I've been wanting this sample set from the moment I heard the room. >> I just got the "New York Studios Vol. 2 - The Lost Studios". By the way Dave, have any of the beta testers there at Toontrack ever tried rendering a single hit rimshot or click sticks to a wave, and then tried loading it up in a convolution reverb? I'm gonna have to try that out and see if I can't put other instruments and vocals into that fabulous room at the Hit Factory. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms
