I’m experiencing a very odd intermittent problem when trying to record midi tracks which usually appears mid session (although not always). This fault may have been outstanding since Dec 2007 when M-Audio released their first vista drivers for the Audiophile 2496 card as since then apart from verifying that the midi ports/cabelling were set up and transmitting and receiving midi data correctly, all of my Cubase sessions have involved recording/mixing of audio, which incidentally suffers from no timing issues whatsoever. What usually occurs is that a track is recorded in time with the midi click and/or PC Click of the metronome. The problem then manifests when trying to record subsequent midi tracks, (although sometimes 2-5 further tracks can be recorded before the issue rears its ugly head) what then happens is that after the record button is pressed, and the pre-count is “played”, any midi sounds being recorded sound in my headphones about .5 second after the key is pressed on my “Dummy “ midi Keyboard however, they are being recorded and display in the cubase track at the correct position. So that is why I am calling my problem a “Midi Thru Latency” issue. I have furiously googled for 2 days and tried out all of the midi sync remedies I could find to no avail. These include 1 Ensured ASIO Drivers selected (Occurs at all latency’s) 2 Disabled all Emulated Ports 3 Make sure the Use System Time Stamp box is checked in your Devices menu 4 Move the file 'ignoreportfilter', found in a folder similar to 'c: \program Files\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Port Enabler'. Simply move the 'ignoreportfilter' file up one level to 'c:\program Files\Steinberg\Cubase\'. 5 Updated Audiophone 2496 drivers I even thought I could “Make Do” until I had found a solution to this problem by plugging my headphones directly into my Roland JV1010 headphone socket to monitor recorded midi, thus avoiding any possible computer generated monitoring/latency issues but there is still midi latency so once again another confirmation of a midi thru latency problem. Someone on inthis Newsgroup had exactly the same problem which was allegedly resolved once he had downgraded to a previous version of the Audiophiles driver. (5.10.00.5057) This option is not open to me as I’m a Vista user and our drivers start at 5.10.00.5065. What's to blame, Cubase, Audiophile 2496, Vista ? Any help would be greatfully appreciated
