I actually did download the demo version of Sonar 8, and approached it with an open mind, only requiring two things. 1. That I could record and playback at the same 1ms (64 samples) ASIO latency that I do from start to finish with all my projects in Reaper. 2. That the stability and reliability was as good as what I'm used to with Reaper. My first requirement wasn't met, so I never got to find out if the second would have panned out. I was able to do some tracks with the Sonar demo using the exact same ASIO settings I use with Reaper, but began to get artifacts and pops and snaps that required me to up the latency. > Don't you also use SONAR for when you work with Poly? I send Poly an MP3 exported out of Reaper. He loads the MP3 into Sonar, records his tracks, exports the individual tracks to .wav, and then I import the .wav files into Reaper. Works totally slick, and lets both of us use whatever DAW software we want to use. We could do the same thing if I was using Sonar and he was using Reaper, or if both of us were using Sonar, or both of us were using Reaper. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

I did the MP3 deal with a band mate of mine; couldn't undo the over done reverb on his voice because he didn't know how to send me dry tracks. Also we were stuck with whatever each other had initially done without being able to collab production ideas too. The way you and Poly do it appears to be working just fine for yous guyses. Playing my pad kit that is triggering Superior Drummer 2 at 1ms feels almost as tight as playing my acoustic kit. Playing it at 5.8ms starts to feel sluggish, and at 10ms feels loose as a goose. >> 2. If he did 10 tracks, I get 10 waves. Very workable. Too bad my pal didn't know how to sing without the reverb circuits on his mic pre-amp. I just checked with 411 (405-555-1212) and can't find him anymore. He had a bad heart. I'll write him a letter through his church and see if he's still with us. > > > The way you and Poly do it appears to be working just fine for yous > > guyses. Which still amazes me to this day. I tried it for ages before I finally coughed up the dough (looking forward to version 4 which I won't have to pay for). I think they want people to get comfortable with it before purchasing which is a great idea. Although there's probably a ton of folks that use it every day without paying. A program like Reaper is worth 10x the cost. Poly
