<X-Posted so both sides of the house can get a look> I decided to try and capture a pic of Jupiter while it is missing one of it's two signature cloud bands, and got lucky tonight. (no not that!!!) I took approximately 30 videos at varying different shutter speeds and gain settings. I finally found one I liked to do a stacked image with, and here's the final end result. Or is the pic zoomed a bit afterward? either way, the definition is superb! It's a kick to put an eyeball on that, kind of like reaching out and touching it a little bit in real time. Some of my best memories as a kid of grammar school, was filing down to the gym to watch feature lenght 35mm movies about the solar system, sitting in the dark on the floor, transfixed.

My scope has a 400mm focal length and has a built in 2x Barlow lens (which I was using) and the camera is supposed to be similar in focal length to a 5mm lens so (400x2/5)=160x approximately. > either way, the definition is superb! Hehe, I used to bug the crap out of my sister's 6th grade science teacher when I was in the 5th, because they had one of those solar systems with gears and a crank handle. I was totally amazed by the precision of the multiple orbits going on, and wanted to study it more. Ever since then I've been totally into astonomy. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

That was a 24 frame video done at 20fps with the gain turned all the way down. Then I pulled it into a program called Registax that aligns each of the frames, and gives you multiple sliders to turn up or down the level of different groups of frames. This pic is actually just a bit more clear than what you actually see looking through the scope. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms
