Hello. I've got a bone to pick with Kurz..

Why is it that K2000 owners cannot obtain free OS updates when they
are currently available an no charge for K2500 and K26xx owners? Why
is it that the K2000 owner is still footing the bill for R & D that
has long since been paid for, AND paying for new research on the
products that have free updates!? COME ON! K2000 owners pay for the
work on upgrades owners of more recent products can get for FREE!!

    Anyways, that's my bone.

As far as I know, the upgrade is free, but the EEPROM chips they come
on are not. Since this is a hardware upgrade, there is a manufacturing
cost involved...thats all I can think it would be. (K2500 & K2600) can
    upgrade via MIDI.

I don't think so, otherwise they would be available for download just
as the k2500 and k2600 operating systems.

I do have access to an EPROM burner and know what is involved in
burning software onto chips. I don't think Kurzweil or Sweetwater or
Sound Logic would be interested in sending me those files when they
can have me pay $200 for and update to 3.87. 27C4001 are 5$ a pop
(that's for the ROM blocks) and the 27C512 can be pulled from old
8086s!! Now that's a markup! And they ask to return the chips!

    Brrr. My feathers are ruffling!!
