I was given a Mark 10 piano. It has a burnt resistor at R72. Does anyone know what resistor that is?

You should be able to trace it back to the circuit it's part of.

How big is it? 1/8 watt? 1/4 Watt? 1 Watt?

If it's burnt it's probably either a power supply resistor or part of an output driver circuit.

It would help if you posted a pic of the resistor.

I've included a picture of the whole board as well as a close-up. R72 (the burnt part) is right in between the two plugs/strips, just above L6.

It looks like someone already tried to kludge in a resistor over on the right by TP20. Prolly shorted out and fried the R72 resistor.

These are surface mount resistors. You don't even try to repair them. You just swap out boards in a case like this.

Whoever soldered in that 470 ohm 1/2 watt resistor did a right good cockup of a job and prolly blew out way more than just R72.

That's why you were GIVEN the piano. It's so old they couldn't find the parts and they f***ed it up to begin with.

Try google and ebay for a used unit for junker parts.

Otherwise just give it to your nephew for his college term project. :p
