I am using Native instruments, that are good, but too electronic. Also
Dimension and some other players that came embedded in my low grade
    Sonar.

I am doing background music for narrative recordings, so I am looking
for sounds related to strings and choirs, ethereal stuff. Something
that works with Sonar 6LE and is not terrible expensive.

    Thanks

I havent delved too far into it, and dont know how well it will fit into the
scope of your project, but have you checked out proteus VX? It's free, and
    has some pretty cool sounds.

Check out the Sampletank group buy over at esoundz or IK Multimedia's
own site. You can get a whole lot of sounds for just $50 USD.

Proteus VX is one of the few free instruments that have a lot of usable
sounds IMO. I've used sounds from it in many recordings, including my
recent 5 drum sets plus percussion song, "Drum Corpse".

I got the Proteus VX... for free is great!

Now how can I make SONAR to recognize it? When I open the Synth Rack
    is not there...

    Thanks

I agree, at least in my case. I remember getting it when I got my emu 0404
working, and you posted a few days afterwards that you were using it. I
figured if it was "Glennbo approved" it cant be all bad LOL

Just last week someone in the Toontrack forum asked me to tell them where I
got the great gong sample in Drum Corpse. I loaded up the song, and traced
it back to . . . you guessed it, the Protus VX. I have so many different
drum softsynths on that piece that I wasn't sure without looking. ;)

Did you re-scan your VST folders after install?

Yeah Phoenix, you were right, I scanned the VST folders and now the
player appears. Very useful sounds, Bob!

If I use the player in "stand alone" mode, everything works perfect.
But from inside Sonar the controls don't have presets (if i click on
"type" shows just an empty little window). Native Instruments and the
players from Sonar are easier to use, or maybe I should keep on
    reading the manual.

Now, the more players I add, the more CPU the computer uses, and...
the more risk of a crash?

Thanks a lot for your advise!

The Proteus VX is now fully working. I really like the sounds and
specially that you have some editing choices.

It works quite different from the other players, but I went to youtube
and got a visual clinic and things are working.

    Thanks again!

Great! Yeah, I was pretty impressed with it, but I have simple needs for
keyboards. I never thought of looking for a tutorial or clinic on youtube,
great thinking! I'll have to check that out.
