I have a fairly fresh cubase AI4 install on Dell laptop under Vista with a Yamaha Audiogram 6 USB "card". I am not too familiar with cubase (or vista for that matter) and trying to simply record about 2 minutes of stereo. My initial attempts at recording worked with the exception of a few "stutters" during playback. While trying to solve that problem I somehow lost the ability to playback audio entirely. I know it is not a hardware issue since other programs (Audacity) playback fine. I'm am also sure the cubase audio track contains data; while playing back the software VU meters are active but not hardware lites on the Yamaha card. The ASIO audio device window in cubase shows output as "inactive" . Clicking "control panel" shows both "Speakers (High definition Audio Device)" and "Speakers (2-USB Audio CODEC)" devices as selected. Full duplex is on. Any suggestions?

I made the propper selection and resolved the problem. Seams like you should be able to access this from the device setup dialog. Thanks for your help jos.
