Does anybody know anything about a very early synthesizer, probably from the
1940s, known as a Maestrovox? I recently bought it on EBay as a long term
restoration project and would be very grateful for any info or links that
    anyone has.

Possibly a form of clavioline, no?
Did you get it off ebay.co.uk?
If so, I am preety sure it was missing it's amplifier which is a
critical part. It powers the keyboard
I mentioned this to the seller but he didn't mention this in the auction.
Hope I'm not a bringer of bad tidings!!
