I'm thinking of buying either a K2000 or a Micro Ensemble. Does anyony
have any experience and can tell me how they compare?

    Thanks,

K2000 (no longer in production, as I'm sure you are aware) is a
workstation. Sounds by today's standards are so-so, but are editable.
Also you can load (& edit if you like) new sounds if you have sample
RAM installed. Also (if you have the latest OS) you can install
sounds designed for the K2500/K2600. Also you can sample if you have
the sampling option. Also you can sequence. It's a workstation.

KME61 has fresh new samples built in, but it's essentially a
sample-playback machine. Can't really edit sounds, can't use samples,
can't sequence. Sounds pretty nice, though.

    Hope that helps.

So, if you are sequencing on an external computer, it is in a way more
useful to buy the cheeper machine, but think: If you are working seriously,
you m u s t have the ability of sound post-pro. The preset sounds are
    never 100% satisfying.

The K2 (or K25/26) ist a real synth, and with a sampling option you've got
a complete system. You can always optimize your sounds and develop a
personal sound style. On a KME61 you will always sound like your machine
    wants you to.

Little Problem: The 24 voices of the K2000 are too few. The k25 or 26 will
    be better.

Have a nice Xmas time and a good new year.

Thanks for your replies. I wasn't very clear - the two are quite
different, but a used K2000 costs about the same as the KME-1. I have
just bought a used K2000, and I'm sure I will enjoy it.
