    I connected a microphone (600 Ohm impedance) to a Roland MC909 but
unfortunately I couldn't record anything... The volume is very very
    low.

I checked everything: the input type is set to Microphone, mono, the
volume knob is ok, the microphone is working correctly on other
    devices.

Do I need to use a pre amp (such as a mixer) between the MC909 and the
    microphone? Do
    you have the same problem?

    Regards,

    Mario,

    If it's a high impedance mic input (usually a 1/4" jack), you'll need a
low-to-high impedance matching transformer. They usually have an xlr input,
and a 1/4" plug. The voltage from a low impedance mic is quite low, and
    high
impedance mic inputs expect more. There are three-pin xlr to 1/4" adapters
(direct connections internally -- not a transformer) that allow a low
impedance mic to be connected to a high-impedance input, but you'd get low
volume -- you need a transformer.
