I've recently acquired a Roland XP-30, which is connected via a Tascam US-122 to Cubase LE (Windows XP). When I record midi the input always comes back late - e.g. note triggered at 2.02.01 appears in Cubase at 2.02.02. I don't like to record with Auto Quantise but if I try it then Cubase will correct this. Having said that, I really would prefer not to use AQ. If I record straight to audio everything's fine give or take the normal very small timing errors. The XP-30 has the Clock Source set to midi and the system tempo is being "read" from Cubase. Have any of you kind people any thoughts please?

Why do you have the XP-30 clock source set to MIDI, is it being synced to Cubase to transfer data? Does the XP-30 have an onboard sequencer or arpeggiator you're using to send data to Cubase? Not sure how you know data is triggered at 2.02.01? That said, I thought the Tascam's USB MIDI felt sluggish (have one but don't use MIDI on it) One thing to try are the different USB ports on your computer. Ap

Because that's where, for example, the snare would fall in an ordinary 4/4 pattern and that's where it ends up if quantised after recording or if recorded with AQ active.
Is it possible you are using the "emulated" midi drivers for the US122? You may need to do the "ignore port filter" mod (move it into its parent folder) and disable any emulated drivers in the device manager. HTH Red
Thanks for that Red. I have done the "ignoreportfilter" mod and have no emulated drivers in sight! Tony
Hello Tony, This is OT regarding your question, but I just replaced my entire studio set up (which I hadn't used for a couple of years) with a new PC (XP), new (Saffire) interface, and installed Cubase LE. I also have an XP 30 which I had working fine on the old set up. Now, I'm having to re-learn everything nearly from scratch. One thing driving me crazy is that I can't get the MIDI out to trigger the sounds on the xp30. I *think* I've done it right in Cubase LE (midi thru is checked) and I thought I had done it right on the XP 30 (in perform mode, I activate sytem then the 4th edit button and set local to OFF) but nothing doing : midi out won't trigger the sounds. Now, I swapped the cables, and midi in still works, so it's not the cables... I can trigger a VSTinstrument with MIDI from the keyboard, but I don't have another sound module to test... any ideas ? BTW : I saw on another post that you have an xp30 script................. i'd be v interested in getting hold of it... if I ever get the XP30 working Thx in advance, and sorry for posing such a dumbass question slanters wrote: > Thanks for that Red. Replying to myself.... 'twas the midi thru on the saffire. Still very interested in the xp30 script if it's available...
Just got back from a short holiday so only read your post today. Give me a day or so to get Bergamo out of my head and I'll send you the script with pleasure. I assume from what you've said in your post that you're not having any timing problems with your set-up?
