    Hello Everyone,

I have a really frustrating midi problem which I can't figure out,
any help will be really appreciated. I am using Cubase SX 2.2.0

When I play midi tracks the sound comes slightly late, maybe like 1/34
late or less, it isn't extremely obvious but it just kills the groove
and sounds bad. Sometimes it is worse and I noticed that when I record
audio from these tracks the audio is much better in time although still

not perfect, worst cases for audio has an offset of about 250 samples
which I assume is pretty bad. But the really bad part is the midi
playback, and I thought I could get around by adjusting the little
clock slider in the midi track but the offset seems to change every
time I turn cubase on again. Plus not all the notes have exactly the
same offset so there is a randomness going on although it is all in a
    close range.

I checked the timing of the VST instruments like the bass module VB-1
and both the midi and the audio have perfect timing. I also tryed some
suggestions like moving the "igonreportfilter" from the enable
ports folder back to the main cubase folder so I could choose the
NON-emulated ports and I really can't see much or any difference
after I did that. I also tryed cliking on timestamp and nothing. The
problem does not seem like latency because I was just playing a few
notes for testing and when I used to have Cubase VST I never had any
problems and could have a bunch of midi tracks all playing at once,
when I pushed it to far I could start getting some latency but it isn't

    the case here at all.

I also set my computer processor to background services like someone
suggested and nothing. The last thing I tryed was to change my computer

from ACPI to standard PC and the problem remains the same. AT this
point I don't know what else to try and how should I proceed at this
point. Do you guys think reinstalling windows XP or stuff like that
would help? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

    Here is my setup:

    Intel Pentium III processor
    866 MHZ
    768 MB of Ram
34.1 GB of hard disk space
    Plextor CD-R
    Toshiba DVD-Rom
Hard Disk Controller via bus master PCI

Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 / Service Pack 1

Sound Card: Dakota / frontier design: with the clock source set to
s/pdif with a sample rate of 44.1 / time code internal and in cubase I
have it selected as ASIO 24 bit Dakota

I also have an Adaptec scsi 19160. And hace connected a Yamaha mixing
console 01V, vocal tube preamp and compressor, digipatch, Akai S6000
sampler and a sierra 8x8 midi plus SMPTE.

    Thanks for any help,

I had the same problems for more than 6 months and here is my set of
    PERFECT solutions:

    Options>Audio>Setup
Number of channels: start small, like 2
Disk block buffer sive, start high, like 128
    Click 'Apply'
    Midi to Audio delay: 0
    Priority: High
    Sample rate :44,100 or 48,000
    ASIO direct montering:Global disable
    <Checkmark>Plugin delay compenstation

If the above settings don't work, give up. If they do, twaek 'em down
    untntil you hit the wall.

    Good luck!

Sounds like you need to reduce the latency in the ASIO control panel of
your audio card. If you have a slow computer you'll get more pops and
    snaps as a result.

Unfortunately I tryed that as well. I guess you mean the Buffer size
    for the soundcard?
