    Hi
Keyboard player is seeking a new palette of sounds in a modular synth or
sampler. can't afford the newest or best... so what's out there on E-bay
    etc.?

I am not into tweaking the sounds and doing synthesis editing, so what i
seek is a module with lots of cool factory sounds. Any impressions of
specific Emu proteus sounds? Mo-Phat or Orbit (cool leads, not for drum
loops)? What about old Akai samplers? Nothing cheesy sounding like older
    general midi / FM modules.

I currently use a Roland , a Kawaii and a Korg keyboard. A new unit would
be for SOLO sounds (not piano/organ... already have those)... so I am
looking for some Phat killer analog sounding cool filter sweepy over-driven
    not-heard everywhere else solo sounds!

Am i better off w/ proteus modules, or going for a used Nord or maybe a
Roland JV or a sampler? I will not take a computer to gigs... (don';t trust
    em).... so NO software stuff.

I cant afford a Kurzweil 2661 or Karma or Triton. Please Help!

OK... post your impressions or dreams for killer synth soloing sounds in a
    module!
    Thanks

Roland JD 990 - It may be old, but it's one of the best sounding Roland
instruments ever built. The filters are just plain beautiful, and the
analog feel facility is very good ;-)
