Had some files that got sped up - apparently an issue with Layla 24 though this is the first time it has happened to me. Was able to slow down the tracks in Reaper and they sound as they were when they were first recorded. I will definitely be buying a license! Neil R

Glad you were able to get the project back to pitch. What steps did you go through? Did you just import, change pitch and export? BTW, If you buy a license now, you'll also get R4 (up to v4.99) for free when it becomes available after the first of the year. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms
That was it. Simple and sounds fine. This was spoken word. Not sure if it would have worked with music or not but for this project it was great!! Thanks Gbo! This was a test I did to see if I could record some music, then slow playback to half and record a guitar solo at half speed. Then, after recording, set the playback back to normal speed (which made the solo guitar have that chipmunks sound), and put the solo guitar through a pitch shifter to get it back in the proper octave. The only knock off that it was recorded this way is a couple places where I forgot to play my vibrato half as fast as I normally would have. Here's the short test I did. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=403575&songID=6320407 -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

Just for fun, I rendered a small section from that test, first playing it at halfspeed, so the guitar solo is as played (crappy), then I sped it up to normal speed, but with no transposer on the guitar, and finally with the transposer, so you guys could hear all three variations of how this was done. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=403575&songID=9955821 -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms

Well, it has been through the wringer, so to speak. I wouldn't ever really use this technique to try to make hot solo out of me playing some "half fast" crap. I can always get Joey Who??? or Polymod to play an actual hot solo, if that's what's needed. That said, the variable speed stuff in Reaper is real useful for doing stuff like lowering the playback speed to sing a part that's just barely out of your vocal range, or recording backing vocals at slightly different speeds to make one person's voice have multiple timbres. -- Remove YourHeadFromYourAss to Reply by email ________ __ / ____/ /__ ____ ____ / /_ ____ / / __/ / _ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \/ __ \ / /_/ / / __/ / / / / / / /_/ / /_/ / \____/_/\___/_/ /_/_/ /_/_.___/\____/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glennbo http://www.soundclick.com/glennbo Non-Linear Sound http://www.soundclick.com/jambits Hear My Music http://www.soundclick.com/ThePseudonyms
