Can anyone suggest a supplier in the US for Roland parts...either new or
salvaged? I am needing the counterweight for a black key on an RD-600.

    Thanks,

    He David,

I'm from Holland so I only know Benelux suppliers. But did you try
    www.rolandus.com ?

I assume they must have a contact

    Best regards,

    Kees

    Thanks.

I am going to try calling them when they open later today, but my experience
in the past with repairs is that most manufacturers won't sell parts
directly to an individual. They want repairs done by an "authorized"
    technician.

Hopefully, Roland doesn't have that policy. It's not like the keyboard is
under any warranty at this point, so any potential damage I might do would
    be on me.

I've bought Roland key parts for my A-90ex controller directly from
Roland USA with no problems. They seem fine with selling parts
directly to the public, and didn't over charge for parts like some
music companies do. Case in point: $1000 to replace a keybed on a
PEAVEY DPM-C8X when new the keyboard cost $1300. Great controller, but
weak (Fatar) keybed. And forget about getting any reply to inquires
about the keybed from Fatar. I emailed both US and Italian suppliers
with no responce. I was unable to order single keys for replacement as
well. I can with Roland my keyboards.

Roland gets my vote for after purchase service, as far as getting
parts and quotes on pricing for parts.

    Good Luck.

I found the same thing to be true today. Roland sold me a hammer action for
$4 (plus $5 shipping). I went ahead and ordered two in case another one
    breaks.

    From the Roland website:

If you would like to order parts, please contact Customer Service at
    323-890-3700 ext. 2289.

I ordered some for my A90 also.
If you are starting to break counterweights, you will probably
need to replace a lot more very soon.
I am replacing ALL of mine.
I did about 20 and still break a few.
If one is wearing out odds are you will have more.
They do not take American Express.
I ordered a service manual and weights when I did my order.
Very nice and very knowledgeable people on the telephone.
When I did my first inspection, I replaced the most obvious cracked pieces.
Now I have decided to replace them all.
These are very easy to fix and can be done in 30 minutes or less.
Most of the work is removing all the screws on the bottom to get to the
    keybed.
All you need is a screwdriver and a pair of needle nose
pliers to spread the ends out on the back of the keys.
You could change all of them in 2 hours or less.
The first time I broke one, I got billed $150 from a repair shop.

    NEVER AGAIN !!!

Let us know how you do.

Yeah, once I figured out you could spread the back of the key out and that
it just popped out with no screws involved, I had no problem removing the
broken counterweight. I actually went ahead and swapped it with the highest
B-flat...no problem at all once you figure out how it works...this was
before I found out I could order the parts directly from Roland.

You are probably correct that I should replace them all. At $4 each, I guess
I'd be looking at $352 to do the entire thing...unless they offer a discount
    on a full set.

The keyboard actually belongs to a group I've just started playing for and I
offered to try to repair it after I broke the key during a performance. My
understanding is that it has been stored in a trailer in a case for the past
two or three years...dry, but not protected from fluctuations in
temperature. I expect you're correct that other counterweights will start
    breaking soon.

It sounds like we need to open a keyboard repair shop!
