This was one of those that came very quickly. Wrote most of it last night
and finished lyrics and recorded/mixed it all day and tonight.

IMHO this is your best work to date.
My only gripe is the drums get a little loose around the 2:00 mark.

    Nice job Neil.

Agreed with Poly (best work to date). I don't qualify for comment on
    the drums :)

This mix sounds great, and it is a really catchy song. Only minor comment
would be that I felt the lead vocal got a bit iffy on pitch and breath
support occasionally. Probably not to the degree that it'd be noticed by
the general public, but a bit more than my ears could just attribute to
"attitude". (I tend to be fairly sensitive to that, probably due to having
had to pay close attention to these issues in recording my own vocals.)

I dig the mandolin and the song. As far as the drum comment Poly made, I'd
bet that just backing off the volume of the drums, especially the snare,
would make it flow smoother without having to quantize or re-cut them.

Thanks Rick & Glennbo for the comments.

Rick I think you're right about the vocals and will probably revisit that.

Glennbo - good suggestion on how to fix the drums.

    Thanks,

Seconded. Loved the mandolin counterpart to the vocal. How'd you record
    the mandolin?

Also love the loping, triplet-feel tempo.

    Nicely done.

Man, is there some talent on this board, or what?

Thanks for the comments Ben! That's my $99 Oscar Scmidt mandolin I got from
musicians fiend last year for another project. Pretty good sound, stays in
tune - what else can you ask for?

I have a modified Oktava MKL 2500 (tube mic) for close micing - great on
anything with strings thru a Manley dual mono mic pre. I used an original
    Rode NT2
thru an Avalon 737 for distant micing (3 or 4 feet).

Wow! I made my other posting, about cheep-cheep mandolins, before
reading your reply - thanks for answering the question I hadn't yet
    asked!
