I've noticed how people post the same exact question over and over again...

Which keyboard should i get? I have xxx,xx moneyz and what can i get?
I play in a rock band... which keyboard should i get... etc etc...

Well first of all - try searching the forums before you ask a question that's been
answered a million times already. I'm almost sure we covered every aspect of music and/or budget.

But anyhow... I'll try to write some kind of an overview in the next few days and stick it up
this subforum or under this thread.

edit (Ian) - I've uploaded Skipp's excellent guide in several parts to the article section - you can read it here:

That is mighty Skipp. So much effort put in, and it will really help a lot of keyboard players.

Very well set out, extensively explained, and very easy to follow.

Looking to buy a new keyboard meself at the moment, and this will be a great help.

Your little document has now become my keyboard Bible lol

Wow, that is an AMAZING article Skipp! :D :D :D Really fantastic work there - I'm impressed!

Would it be helpful if I added an "article" section to the website? I could add a button at the top of the page which goes to a list of articles, displayed in article format (rather than as a forum) - plus links for people to comment on it etc...? There could also be links to the latest articles added to the sidebar.

Well, the name explains it all actually :)

A sampler is a device that can play your own samples - not just the sounds
that come as a factory presets.

Those are called ROMplers - since they can only reproduce sounds placed in
the factory ROM

Instead of buying one, you could win a Moog Slim Phatty. Just become a fan of Astralwerks + Moog on facebook by 'liking' the page. It’s 100% analog signal path, intuitive user interface, rugged construction and rich MIDI, USB and Control Voltage functionality make it a must-have for producers, touring musicians and DJs.

Here's the site to enter and for further details:
