So, after wiping the hard disk, and reformatting NTFS  . . .

I've been thinking about what a chore it has become to click on the
leetle tiny blinking lights and widgets onscreen. I'm wondering whether
increasing the monitor's resolution might help, but in the past when I
bought better monitors and increased the resolution everything gets
    SMALLER . . . I don't pretend to understand this, but

I've been thinking about stealing my wife's 32" vizio hdtv, which I
think does 720p, and installing it in the studio while she's away. I'm
on Win7/x64, and my current video card is an older pci-e card that does
dual head dvi and vga. I've been considering replacing it with a card
that does hdmi out. Would the increased resolution help these old eyes
see the leetle blinking thingies ?

If so, then: If I use a dvi to hdmi adapter on the old card, do I get to
the same place as I would with a cheepo video card with a dedicated hdmi
output? Strangely, the adapters ($20-$30) are only marginally less
expensive than the card ($40), so it's not a cost thing.

IOW, do I lose resolution by using a dvi/hdmi adapter rather than a card
    that does onboard hdmi?

Just wondering about things I don't remotely understand. Thanks for any
    input!

I use a 32" HDTV as my monitor on my primary machine, which also functions
as my DAW. I run it at 1920x1080 and could never go back to a smaller
monitor. Here at work, I have a 22" Viewsonic that's right in my face, and
it is less comfortable than my 32" at home that's 4 or 5 five feet back.

    That's full 1080p resolution, isn't it? How's about heat? Our 47 incher
in the family room throws off quite a bit of heat . . .

It is full 1080p. It doesn't seem to create that much heat. The lights in
the room, power amps, and computer create more than my monitor. It is an
    LCD, and not a plasma.
