I'm waiting for Steinberg to send me a replacement dongle from
Germany. Sod's law kicked in and, only a matter of hours into Cubase
5, my dongle decided to go tits up which brought everything to a halt.
In order to prevent myself from boring everyone to death ranting and
raving about dongles (grrrrrr!!), I remembered that I had a copy of
LE4 which came bundled with something or other. Loaded it up..went
through the e-license business...no dongle with this one...and off we
    go!!

Of course LE4 is very, very cut-down..no frills at all. Certainly no
good for a full-on studio situation. But its fine for a solo
project..in fact almost too good! The only essential thing that I
really missed was the audio/instrument freeze facility. Work with it
long enough and I'm sure I'd find all the other flaws....nonetheless I
recorded and mixed a new song with LE4 which is here (3rd song):
    http://pricey.moonfruit.com/#/songs/4512272144

I'm really pleased with this one. Its a very simple mix...but then
most of my stuff is. Whilst I'm really looking forward to resuming
with Cubase 5 (assuming that I do actually get my replacement dongle),
I enjoyed the simplicity of LE4.........hmmm .....LL

Good stuff :) I had a listen to all three songs on the site. Do I detect
a Wishbone Ash mid career influence in there (without the twin lead guitars
of course)? Nice playing, good song construction, good drum programming
(sounds pretty natural), good vocals, good mixes.

LE4 is simple and sometimes that's good because you can get ideas down
without worrying too much about technicalities.

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks for listenening Nick, and for the encouragement. I guess
Wishbone Ash are one of my influences...though one of only many. I saw
them very early on at the time the first album came out.. Thinking
about it, 'Time Was' - from Argus (2nd album), remains one of my faves
    from that period.

Having an evening in my studio tonight. Glass of red, my SG and Jazz
Bass..still with LE4 (no sign of the new dongle yet). Lets hope that
inspiration kicks in before the wine takes over!!

    Cheers ...LL
