Recently ghosted my C drive to a new drive.. was running a "try before you buy" Nuendo 3..worked flawless on the original drive, but when moved to the new drive, I'm getting this very low level "white noise" blast about every 10 seconds... Any way, I completely uninstalled Nuendo 3 and syncrosoft dongle emulator etc..from the new drive...and proceded to install my nice new (full ret.) Cubase 5, and Wavelab Essential 6. Strange thing is, this "white noise" thing is STILL happening !!! So does anybody have any ideas on what this might be ??? Was told originally it was to do with the dongle emulator's way of saying "this is now on a different PC"..hmmm...well that's fine...but surely after I uninstally all evil, and did the fresh install with all legit stuff this wouldn't be the case ??? Could it be to do with the actual hard drive ( the new one ) ??? I am runing this with a Presonus "Fire Studio" interface on a PC.. BC

Might be completely unrelated to the warez. What takes longer - troubleshooting this comprehensively or wiping your drive and starting over with a clean Windows? How long since you did this anyway? As you're obviously an experimenter, it should be a regular event. CubaseFAQ page: http://www.laurencepayne.co.uk/CubaseFAQ.htm

Luckily I have the option to still boot off the old CD drive if I need to do some music... but really want to get this new set up running smoothly asap.. I'm going to re image to another hard drive to see if that changes anything... but after that the reformat may be the only solution...damn.. BC

Keep the old drive as backup - a new one's cheap enough. Don't install a program unless you're SURE you'll need it that week. Once your staples are on, make a full disk-image backup so you can jump to that point next time. CubaseFAQ page: http://www.laurencepayne.co.uk/CubaseFAQ.htm
Thanks Lawrence... it ended up being an exprired demo of a reverb that was still hanging around from ages ago... so all is clean aready to go now -- cheers, Hi-Soft "Laurence Payne" <> wrote in message news:... > On Wed, 05 Aug 2009 13:48:04 GMT, "BC" <> wrote: > >>Hmmm...well I thin k it would take me a few weeks to do a complete >>reformate >>and start over unfortunately. > > Usually takes me half a day.
