    Hi everyone,

This is the day where I try and be unfaithfull to WIn XP x86 : I'll try
WIn7 x64 (on a multiboot, got to be cautious, still ;-)

The main reason: I want to be able to use more memory than 3.75Go :))

    My question is simple:
Knowing that none of the plugins I use are 64bit applications,
am I to install Cubase x86 or Cubase x64 ?

What choices have some of you made, here, and why are you happy/not
    happy with theses choices?

The main VST-i in I'll use is Kontakt, but many other will be used.

    Thanks for your inputs.

Probably you'll end up with the 32-bit version for now. But install
    both. Why not?

Seems like a dejà-vu... I might have asked the very same question some
    month ago.
Well, why not the 32b and 64b all together.
*If*! if, if the 32b VST-i and VST-FX are able to run with a 64 bit
host, I might actually try what you suggest.

    thx

Not all plugins run on Win7 x64

    Hi Max,

Would you be more specific? Wich plugins showed up to be a problem under
    win7x64 ?

    Well, my main machine has XP32, Win7 32 AND Win7 64 as multi-boot...

    > The main reason: I want to be able to use more memory than 3.75Go :))

Then, rather go for 64 bit Win7. In my machine, XP32 report 3,5 GB, but
Win7-32 only 3,0 GB - Win7-64 reports the full 4 GB, that are physically
    installed (2x 2 GB).

On a 64 bit platform, my first choice would be a 64 bit application. As far
    as plug-ins are concerned... I don´t know. ;-)

Not much yet. Tweaked the start menu a bit to my personal preferences, but
else?! Not much... I first want to give it some time, to see how it works
    out without tweaking.
The first thing, that you might want to disable is the indexing service -
even though it can be quite useful, much more than on XP.

I'll have to check... a mate of mine re-installed XP because of
    VSTi-problems.

    Oh, Indeed?
Well if you get the info again, could you post it here? eg: what plug
    ins are a problem with win7 x64.
That will be very usefull for many, I guess :)

Most plug in problems under Win7/64 are with Cubase64, not Cubase32.
Cubase32 running under Win7/64 there are very few plugins that have
problems. You can install both Cubase32 and Cubase64 on the same
machine. They can share the same project files, etc. I used C64
until I had an older plug that didn't work. All I did was open the
same project with Cubase32 (which the older plug did work).
