Hi, I'd like to install a 64bit OS in order to bypass the 3.5Go memory problem. Ire-read the latest thread about this, and the general advice wad to stick to XP 32 and wait for win7, thus skipping Vista. This is exactly what I wanted to do. But is anyone using XP64bits? MIght it not be a good way to keep XP and have 64 bits benefits? Huey

Nice idea, but I´d leave it with the idea... > Ire-read the latest thread about this, and the general advice wad to > stick to XP 32 and wait for win7, thus skipping Vista. > > This is exactly what I wanted to do. The main problem with XP64 is still, that there´s very little 3rd party support and only very few drivers available. A guy from Steinberg said recently, "Cubase kind of works on XP64, but we are NOT supporting it at all!" XP64 was rather an experiment, than anything usable. Wait for Win7, buy the 64bit version and benefit from Steinberg´s official 64bit Cubase5 support. Phil

Then, you just need a spare internal HD you can install Win7 on. If you have a spare computer with 64bit hardware, even better... ;-) NOTE: this "RC1" edition is for evaluation and testing purposes only!!! That´s why I recommend using a spare HD for testing Win7. best choice is to disconnect the normal hd with your normal OS and data on it, while testing Win7 (installed on a separate hd), so your main HD(s) is safe from any changes made by Win7. It´s a bit uncomfortable, but easy enough to do... Phil

I've had no problems with it as a multiboot on a partition rather than a removable drive. It does use a different multiboot system to XP - boot.ini is no longer used. But its easily reversible if you want to remove it. CubaseFAQ page: http://www.laurencepayne.co.uk/CubaseFAQ.htm
